Former classroom designer and standards officer for the University of Toronto
Burl designs educational spaces and authors standards for classrooms and lecture halls. His key contributions have been: (1) design of new progressive classroom areas (2) integration of modern AV systems (3) pioneering the collection and application of scholastic design information.
Burl has the M.Arch from the University of Toronto and has worked since mid-degree designing and consulting on University builds. Project size range from the design of a $150/unit lectern (over 300 now installed) to consultation on two $70 million projects (UofT Mississauga and Scarborough Instructional Centers, 2011)
Intent
(1) work for a private firm and attain professional license
(2) work for a university and apply same method of developing classroom standards to all areas
(3) provide independent design/analysis consultation
